2014 First Baby Contest underway

With the beginning of the new year, many will be guessing which expectant mother in Moniteau County will be the first to give birth in 2014. One lucky mother will be declared the winner of the 2014 First Baby of Moniteau County Contest.

The rules of the contest are as follows: Babies are eligible when the married parents are Moniteau County residents with an established home. (A couple residing with relatives or friends may not enter their baby in the contest.)

Entrants must call the California Democrat at 573-796-2135 with notification of the birth, including the date and time of birth, to find out if their child's birth is the first of the new year. If so, the following information must be provided: The date, hour, minute and place of birth, as well as the sex, weight and color of eyes, which must be submitted by a licensed physician. The parents' full names and signature of the attending physician must accompany the entry.

This information can be delivered to the Democrat office at 319 S. High Street, California; or mailed to: Baby Contest Editor, P.O. Box 126, California, MO., 65018; or emailed to: editor@californiademocrat.com.

Entries must reach the office by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3. If there is no winner by then, the contest will be extended through each Friday until there is a winner.

All gifts must be claimed within 90 days, unless other arrangements are made with the advertiser.
