Secretary of State candidate Krause visits California

District 8 State Sen. Will Krause, who announced his candidacy for Missouri Secretary of State for the 2016 election, chose to make his first campaign speech for the position in California.

Kraus spoke Thursday, July 17, to those gathered for the Moniteau County Republican Club picnic at Proctor Park. Others present included Rep. David Wood, Rep. Caleb Jones, both of whom represent parts of Moniteau County, former Sen. Larry Rohrbach and Republican candidates for county offices.

Among other comments, Kraus said the office of Missouri Secretary of State is important in its leadership role in many areas, including promotion of business and prevention of fraud.

Kraus, elected to the State Senate from Jackson County in 2010, is unopposed for a second term State Senate race. He served three terms in the Missouri House of representatives before being elected to the Senate. A major in the Missouri National Guard, Kraus is a veteran of the War in Iraq, where he served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He and his wife Carmen and their sons reside in Lee's Summit. He also oversees operation of the family farm near Sedalia.
