A Versailles man is dead and a deputy is injured after a shooting in Versailles on Wednesday.
According to a release from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Morgan County deputies and officers from the Versailles Police Department were responding to an assault in progress Wednesday on the 18500 block of 2nd Street in Versailles. Officers confronted Randall Roden, 41, of Versailles, after he had assaulted another person.
Officers attempted to restrain Roden, using a Taser on him twice, but Roden fired multiple rounds at the officers, with one striking and wounding an unnamed Morgan County deputy. Officers returned fire, resulting in Roden's death.
