Paul Cary provides fire truck during prevention week

Bunco was held at Latham School Monday, Oct. 6 with seven ladies attending. Judy Sommerer was crowned the October Bunco Queen and split the most Buncos. Others attending were Shanay Lepper (most wins, most Buncos and most baby Buncos), Wanda Wilde, Ruby Hibdon, Shawna Shewmaker (most losses), Vicki Watkins (most wins and Buncos) and Roberta Gunnerson (most snake eyes).

During Fire Prevention Week, volunteer firefighter Paul Cary has brought a fire truck to the school for the kindergarten class to see and learn about. He also brought with him backpacks filled with coloring books, and school supplies with fire safety tips to remind children and their families of the dangers of fire. Cary also took the fire truck to South Mennonite School for the students to see.

Saturday, Cole Pettigrew attended the Renaissance Festival in Kansas City with the California Drama Club. Cole spent Friday through Monday with his aunt Edith Drinkall while Ike and Ruby Hibdon were in Georgetown, Ky., for the wedding of friends Kenny and Daisy Key. Bronc Hibdon played his first football game in Tipton Saturday. He stayed with John and Kam Hibdon while his parents were away.

While running the mile in P.E. Wednesday, one of the students got very overheated and the ambulance was called, no transport was needed, but the crew checked her making sure she was fine.

Dan Schantz, Moberly Christian College, was the guest speaker at Latham Christian Church Sunday. A memorial celebration was held at the church for Joe Lachner by the children Jerry Lachner and Debbie Steele on Saturday.

Pilot Grove had 19 in Sunday school and 10 more for church. The church will miss Sue Schrader who died Oct. 8. Sympathy is extended to Larry and family.

The Kurt and Jennifer Liebl family attended the Newsboy Christian Concert with the youth group. The spook walk Saturday night in Blackwater was sponsored by Lyceum Theater.

Brittany Liebl made all district choir.

Friday Michael, Amanda, Nicholas, Derek and Ashley Bolinger attended the Friday football Central Bank tailgate in California. Saturday they attended the Connell Family reunion at the Annunciation Catholic Church.

While in Kentucky Ike and Ruby Hibdon went to the Keeneland Park Horseraces Saturday and Sunday. They attended church services at Newton Christian Church.
