The training, held in the Moniteau County Library meeting room, was the final activity of the 2-year Main Street Affiliate Grant Program awarded to CPI in 2013. The CPI Board was joined by the Chairpersons of the California Historic District Committees for the training led by Missouri Main Street Community Development Coordinator, Keith Winge. The California Historic District (CHD) is a program under the direction of the CPI Board.

Winge started the training and strategic planning session with a discussion of the roles and responsibilities of the Board. He then talked about the "Key Components to Successful Downtown Revitalization".

Winge then commended the group for their many accomplishments during the 2-year grant program noting the NAP Program, Farmers' Market, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, 4th of July activities, Street Banners, decorative planters, website development, CHD brochure, and business inventory among others.

Finally he led the group in developing a local plan of action for the future including: Vision, Mission, Strategies and Actions. The group created a list of strategies to be prioritized at the February CPI Board meeting. The CHD committees will then determine the actions needed to follow through with the strategies.

Attending the training and strategic planning session were CPI Board members Larry Kent, president, Blake Howard, vice president, Beth Jungmeyer, secretary, Mary Jo Garnett, Pam Green, Gail Hughes, Norman Rohrbach, Charlie Roll, Eleanor Tiefenbrun, Connie Walker and Susan Burger, CPI Executive Director. CHD Committee attendees were Dave Jungmeyer and Dolores Burger along with Green and Walker.
