Damon Shaw expects to play again this season after suffering a knee injury against Southern Boone on Friday, Jan. 9, and missing last week's California Basketball Tournament.

The senior forward, who started the Pintos' first eight games, tore the medial meniscus in his right knee and was scheduled to have surgery Monday, Jan. 19. Since the MRI showed only a partial tear, Shaw expects to recover in three or four weeks.

"I feel pretty confident I'll be back," he said last week. "I'm not too worried about it."

Shaw suffered a torn medial meniscus in his left knee as a sophomore, returning from that surgery in less than a month.

"I know what to expect," he said. "I have a good doctor out of Columbia, so I should be fine."

Although he could return to finish the regular season, Shaw won't rush through his rehabilitation process.

"My goal is to get back before districts," he said. "However long it takes to get healthy and help the guys. I don't want to be 50 percent anymore."

Shaw's teammates are hoping for a quick return.

"We miss him right now," senior guard Jaden Barr said after Thursday's semifinal game. "He does things people don't really see. He boards well, he screens well. We only have seven guys in our rotation right now and get tired. We miss him, but we're trying to get through it."
