The Kansas City Jazz Women's Rugby Team, for which Abby Higgins plays Outside Center (No. 13), placed seventh nationally in U.S. women rugby, as a result of a win and a loss in San Francisco the weekend of May 30-31. The KC Jazz was defeated Saturday, May 30, in a game against the Sacramento Amazons. But the team rallied and went on to win its Sunday, May 31, game against the Ventura County (California) Outlaws.
Higgins, daughter of Michelle and Larry Higgins, Latham, although unhappy about the loss of the Saturday game, was elated about the Sunday win. Next year, the team will have another year of experience playing together, and hopes to rise in the national rankings.
