California Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors successful golf tournament

The California Area Chamber of Commerce Board meeting was called to order by President Jason Witt, Thursday at 8 a.m. The board approved the minutes and treasurer's report from the previous meeting.

Board Secretary, Diane Eulinger, distributed a written report noting telephone calls are coming in for the annual Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival. She shared with the board Eleanor Tiefenbrun was working with California organizations to upgrade logos.

In committee reports Dwight Sanders, chairman of the golf tournament committee, reported a great tournament took place Wednesday, June 10, with 19 teams and 28 hole sponsors. Sanders shared the tournament went well due largely to the many volunteers. The chamber board members appreciates the communities donations and support for the fundraiser.

Mayor Norris Gerhart reported the city is continuing to work with MoDOT to proceed with the "Welcome to California" sign project.

He also invited everyone to the fireworks display provided by the City of California Saturday evening, July 4, at dusk. He mentioned the display planned has been increased by one-third this year.

Brad Baer, chairman of the Ham and Turkey Festival, stated the committee met Monday, June 1. Everything is on schedule and the committee will meet again, Monday, July 6, at 5:30 p.m.

Thank you notes from scholarship winners - Garrett Imhoff, Matt Oerly, Haley Goans, Jacob Hoellering and Eli Freeman were received and shared.

The meeting adjourned. The next scheduled meeting will be held Thursday, July 9, at 8 a.m., in the California City Hall meeting room.
