City of California Police Department officers responded about 10 p.m. Friday, May 1, to reports of shots fired in the 1000 block of Dave Drive. The investigation is ongoing at this time in connection with the incident, with several agencies involved, including the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department and Missouri Highway Patrol.
It has been reported by neighbors that five shots were heard and that they appeared to have been in the vicinity of the home of Shayne Healea, Moniteau County Prosecuting Attorney. He was said to have returned home a short time before the shots were fired. Healea is in his fifth year as prosecutor.
As of press time, neither the investigating agencies or the apparent target of the attack have commented on the progress of the investigation.
