California track advances to state track meet

Saturday Walker Borghart, Drew Norton, Gunner Baquet and Dylan Norton ran in the High School Class 3 Sectional Track & Field 4x200 relay and qualified for State competition, which will be held in Jefferson City on Saturday, May 30. Borghart also qualified for the Triple Jump and Long Jump. Drew also qualified in the 800 and the 4x400 Relay. Dylan also qualified for 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and the 4x400 Relay. Hodges qualified in the 4x800 and the 4x400 Relays. Adam Burkett qualified in the 4x800 Relay and the two mile.

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - The Pinto boys' track team continues to have a successful season, winning the Sectionals Track Meet Saturday in Blue Springs. California advanced to the Missouri High School Activities Association State Track Meet in 14 events for the boys and two events for the girls.

Audrey Pickering continues to place near the top in shot put, earning second place at the sectionals meet, and Jasmine Wells advanced to this weekend's state meet, finishing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Pickering will compete Friday at 4 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium at Lincoln University, and Wells' preliminaries are set for a 2:50 p.m. start time on Friday. Wells must place in the top-eight to move on to the finals, Saturday at 1:40 p.m.

Josh Woodruff moved on state in four events, the 100-, 200-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay. Dylan Norton, Ethan Hodges and Drew Norton are also on the 4x400-meter relay team.

Drew Norton is also apart of the 4x200- and 4x800-meter relay teams that advanced to state. He also placed fourth in the 800-meter run, advocating to 2:50 p.m. state finals on Friday. His brother, Dylan Norton, finished the top-four in the 300-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles to move on to this weekend's meet.
