Local candidates file for August primary

The deadline for filing for county offices in the upcoming Moniteau County primary election was 5 p.m. March 29.

The Aug. 2 election will include the following county offices: commissioners, Districts I and II; sheriff; assessor; public administrator and coroner.

In the contested races, the candidates and the offices sought follow. Candidates' party affiliation is indicated with a D for Democratic or an R for Republican.

• Commissioner, District I: Johnnie Elliott (R), California; Jeff Wingate (R), Centertown; Steve Pate (R), California; Chris Baker (R), Jamestown; Noland Porter (R), Jamestown.

• Commissioner, District II: Kim Roll (D), California; Greg Robinson (R), Clarksburg; Mac Finley (R), Clarksburg.

• Sheriff: Jeptha (Jay) Gump (R), California; Anthony "Tony" Wheatley (R), California.

• Assessor: Meleigha Caudel (R), California; Amanda Trimble (R), California; Tara Renfro (R), Tipton.

• Coroner: Marty Ramsdell (R), California; John Lucas (R), California; David Shaul (R), Jamestown.

The office of public administrator is uncontested with only one candidate filing for the position: incumbent Cher Caudel (R), California.
