Troop 120 participates in Klondike Derby

Boy Scout Troop 120 traveled to Camp Hohn to participate in a Klondike Derby last weekend.

The Troop had spent the last several meetings designing and building a sled to pull supplies across the frozen tundra at the Boy Scout Reservation.

The Scouts battled against other Boy Scout patrols in doing scout skills at fifteen different stations such as first aid, lashings, archery, tomahawk throwing, BB guns and an obstacle course.

After a full day of competition, the Troop enjoyed a dinner of ham and bean soup with cornbread with all of the other Scouts.

Everyone was surprised when they woke up to the clouds opening up and dropping snow on everyone the next morning.

Scouts attending from Troop 120 were Nathan Pickering, Kyle Friener, Lane Schuster, Chatman Pardoe and Travis Barbour. Scout Leaders Eric Schroeter and Scott Jobe are happy to report no cases of frostbite were seen but there is always next month's winter camp which will be held out in the wilds of Moniteau County.
