RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Dana Northweather and her husband, Damon, were looking to add more to their community.

For most people living in Russellville, the 15-mile drive to Jefferson City is part of their shopping routines. Now, locals can shop at D&D Outlet at 12960 Route C for toys, clothes, shoes, school supplies and much more.

Their business opened in November 2018; they sell overstock items they receive by the truck load.

"It's kind of like a liquidation store," Dana said.

She said stores like Walmart, Target and others that have too much of a product will sell to businesses in bulk. The outlet then sells to customers for a lower price.

Racks are stocked with toy trucks and dolls in two sections of the store. It's a dream come true for their two school-aged boys who have to hear "no" to playing with most of the items for sale.

In the back of the store, tables, chairs, stools and blinds are on display. Shelves full of bedding and planting items are available, but what sells the most is kitchen items and school supplies.

"It saves people trips to go to Jefferson City," Dana said.

She said it also keeps business in the community. Although they are lower than retail prices, some items are marked an additional 20 or 30 percent off.

The store is open seven days a week from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Dana said she hopes having the store in town gives people in the community something to do together.

She suggests people buy what they like because deliveries come about once a week, and the owners never know what items they will get.

The Northweathers also own D&D Main Street Market at 1937 W. Main St. in Jefferson City. The business opened in spring 2009 and specializes in produce and flowers.
