Eight people injured in weekend traffic crashes

Eight people were injured in Mid-Missouri traffic crashes over the weekend.

A Jefferson City man was injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Cole County.

At 12:47 p.m., Christopher A. Winter, 51, of Jefferson City, was driving west on Monticello Road in a Missouri State Highway Patrol 2023 Ford Explorer.

As Winter drove, William D. Prevost, 49, of Eldon, turned into his path in a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan, according to a Highway Patrol crash report. Winter hit Prevost's vehicle, inflicting moderate damage on both vehicles.

Winter was wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries. A private vehicle transported him to MU Health Care Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City for treatment.

Three Versailles residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Morgan County.

At 9:25 a.m., Elvin L. Hoover, 40, of Versailles, was driving south on Route J in a 2016 Kenworth T880 semi-truck when he drove off the right side of the road, according to a Highway Patrol crash report.

Hoover over-corrected, bringing the truck back onto the road. The truck crossed over the center line, overturned and went off the left side of the road.

Hoover was not wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries. His passengers, two 14-year-old Versailles boys, were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries.

Mid-Mo Ambulance transported the victims to MU Health Care Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.

A 16-year-old Barnett girl was injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Morgan County.

At 12:50 p.m., Darla L. Warfield, 67, of Barnett, was driving north on Golden Beach Road in a 2005 Nissan Sentra. According to a Highway Patrol crash report, the vehicle went off the right side of the road and Warfield over-corrected, returning the car to the road and crossing the center line.

The vehicle overturned, went off the right side of the road again and hit a tree.

Warfield was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Her passenger, a 16-year-old Barnett girl, was wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries. Mid-Mo Ambulance transported the teenager to MU Health Care Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.

An Eldon woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Miller County.

At 5:55 p.m., Evelyn J. Ruppel, 74, of Eldon, was crossing U.S. 54 East at Cave Drive in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma and drove into the path of Sergio Morales-Maldonado, 30, of Columbia.

According to a Highway Patrol crash report, Morales-Maldonado hit the back of Ruppel's vehicle with his 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were uninjured. Ruppel's passenger, Pamela S. Coffman, 70, of Eldon, was also wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Miller County EMS transported her to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach for treatment.

Two Lebanon residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Miller County.

At 4:58 p.m., a 13-year-old Lebanon girl was driving north on a private road half a mile south of a house on Kinderhook County Road in a 2021 Honda Pioneer UTV.

According to a Highway Patrol crash report, the juvenile drove off the right side of the road and the UTV overturned, ejecting the girl and her passenger.

The girl and her passenger, Troy A. Bowlin, 35, of Lebanon, were not wearing helmets and suffered serious injuries. Miller County EMS transported them to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
