California Lady Pintos wrestling traveled to Battle High School in Columbia to compete in the Wonder Woman Tournament on Friday and Saturday. California was represented in Columbia by Camryn Wingate at 105 pounds, Bella Fulks at 130 pounds and Ivy Scroggins at 170 pounds.

There were over 890 wrestlers representing 81 schools from seven states at the tournament. While the Lady Pintos did not have any medalists, the team had a series of good matches from the three wrestlers that participated.

Wingate won by fall over Emma Donze, of Seckman, in the first round. She then lost to Brooklyn Noel, of Moore, Oklahoma, by fall to send her to the consolation side of the bracket. She won by fall over Kya Aubuchon, of DeSoto, and by decision over Alaina Bigham, of Staley, in her first two matches in the consolation bracket. Wingate's time at the tournament concluded after a defeat from Olivia Coll, of Edwardsville, Illinois, in a 7-2 decision.

Fulks lost in the first round by fall to Jasmine Wolfe, of Smith-Cotton, to send her to the consolation side of the bracket. She won her next two matches by fall over Abigail Homes, of Timberland, and Natalie Flohr, of Mensa, Wisconsin. Fulks was then knocked out of the tournament by Allison Kramer, of Fort Osage, by fall.

Scroggins lost in the first round by fall to Macie Tomlinson, of DeSoto. She then defeated Ava Mirth, of Fort Zumwalt South, by a 4-2 decision and Samiah Watson, of Liberty, by a 1-0 decision in the consolation bracket. She was then defeated by Faith Nesfeder, of Staley, which ended her weekend of wrestling.

As a team, the Lady Pintos combined to go 7-6 overall in the tournament.

"The girls wrestled good and got to see what it's like to wrestle at a big tournament that has girls from all over the nation, and some nationally ranked," head coach Lance Fulks said. "Freshman Bella Fulks had a great showing for her first big tournament. I've had first time wrestlers go two and out so for her to get a couple wins is great. Junior Ivy Scroggins wrestled good as well and got to see some better competition than she has all year. Senior Camryn Wingate, who's now ranked number one at 105 weight class in the state had a good showing, making it through the first day before loosing to a tough girl in the blood round. We saw some good things from the girls and also found things we need to work on to get better."

California will be back in action on Wednesday at the Fatima Quad. Then they will travel to Hallsville for the Tri-County Conference Tournament on Friday and then to Smith-Cotten on Saturday for the Rookie Round-Up.
