Authorities say the man suspected of shooting a woman at County Park may have been sighted this afternoon in rural Cole County.
The Cole County Sheriff's Department reports Jerry Dean Gill, 29, of Holts Summit, may have been in the area of Route D and Kaylor Bridge Road, between Lohman and Centertown. The department issued a public text message advisory at 1:15 p.m. after deputies were called to the area to investigate a report of a stolen red Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle. Officers searched the area for the vehicle and suspect.
Gill is charged with two counts of second-degree domestic assault and one count each of armed criminal action and false imprisonment. He's accused of shooting the victim Monday afternoon at County Park.
A sheriff's department probable cause statement, filed with the courts, reports Gill and the woman got out of a car, then Gill started yelling at the woman, then shot her. She reportedly was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers has issued a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Gill. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous. They advise citizens who see the suspect or have relevant information to call 911.
