Moniteau County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) held a Pizza Party recently for the poster winners of the "Healthy Soils Are Full of Life" contest. The event was at Centennial Hall on the Moniteau County Fairgrounds.

The contest program was presented to approximately 400 fifth and sixth graders in Moniteau County schools the end of February and first of March.

A first place winner in each classroom received $10. An overall winner in each grade received an additional $15.

The fifth grade overall winner was Brenton Arnold, Tipton, a St. Andrews student. The sixth grade overall winner was Gabbi Griffith, California. These top two posters will advance to the state competition.

The celebration began about 4 p.m. with games and visiting, followed up with the award presentations. The event finished with pizza and cheese sticks.

Moniteau County SWCD thanks the schools for participating in and giving the district the time to do its presentation, the teachers for putting this in their schedules and the students who were courteous and polite and created some awesome posters.
