Governor orders flags at half-staff for fallen Marine from Callaway County

U.S. Marine Talon Leach was killed in an aircraft crash last week in Mississippi. The date of his funeral has not been determined.

Gov. Eric Greitens has ordered that U.S. and Missouri flags at all state buildings be flown at half-staff Tuesday to honor Marine Sgt. Talon Leach of Fulton, who was killed in the line of duty.

Leach, 27, died July 10 after a transport plane he was in crashed on its way to a pre-deployment training.

Greitens also ordered that U.S. and Missouri flags at all state buildings in Callaway County be flown at half-staff starting Wednesday and going through Aug. 22.

Leach was assigned to the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion, Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. His awards and decorations include the­­ Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, and three Certificates of Appreciation.
