California Christmas concert a hit

The California school bands presented a 2017 Winter Concert on Dec. 10 to a full house of family and friends at the high school.

The concert featured performances, directed by Tyler Edwards, by the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade bands, the jazz band and the high school band.

Illustrating the progress of the band members through the years, the program began with the sixth-grade band performing "Jolly Old St. Nick," "Up on the Housetop," "Merry Widow Waltz" and "Jingle Bells."

The seventh-graders took up the next part with "Good King Wenceslas," "O Tannenbaum," "S'vivion" and "Holly Jolly Christmas."

The eighth-graders performed "The Joyful Bells of Christmas" and "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow."

The jazz band was up next, with a performance including "Jersey Bounce" and "Disco Jingle Bells."

The high school symphonic band closed the concert with "Armed Forces on Parade," "Twenty Carols in Two Minutes," "The Great Locomotive Chase" and "Themes from 'The Nutcracker.'"
