Several arrested on drug charges

Moniteau County Sheriff's Department deputies recently made several drug arrests.

On July 22, deputies conducted a vehicle stop for a driving violation in California and searched the vehicle of the driver, David Fields, 45, of Clarksburg. Fields was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, according to Sheriff's Department reports. He was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.

On Saturday, deputies stopped to check a vehicle parked along the side of U.S. 50, near California. They could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to Sheriff's Department reports. They searched the vehicle of driver Reed Crepps, 55, and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Crepps was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, driving while revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

On Sunday, a Tipton woman was arrested following a vehicle stop in Kliever for a registration violation. Sheriff's Department reports show Sara James, 27, was visibly shaking and denied deputies' request to search her vehicle. A K-9 sniffed the outside of the vehicle and indicated there were drugs inside. Deputies then searched the vehicle and located methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. James was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
