Two were arrested Friday after a pursuit in the 100 block of West Dunklin Street.

Two people were taken into custody following a police pursuit Friday morning in Jefferson City.

Just before 9 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle which had been reported stolen from the 1100 block of East Dunklin Street earlier Friday morning, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.

The vehicle was found in the area of the 100 block of West Dunklin Street. The driver failed to stop for officers, and a pursuit began.

The pursuit continued from West Dunklin and Washington Street westbound, then went north onto Bolivar Street, where the vehicle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Bolivar and West Main streets.

The stolen vehicle overturned and struck a parked truck before coming to rest.

The driver and a passenger in the stolen vehicle fled the crash scene on foot but were taken into custody after a short chase.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

The driver and the passenger in the stolen vehicle were not named pending the filing of formal charges. Those charges could include theft of a motor vehicle, assault, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and numerous other traffic offenses, officers said.
