Mid-Mo Ambulance EMT class is underway

The regular monthly meeting of the Mid-Mo Ambulance District Board March 14 was a short one, due to little business to be conducted.

Administrator Lee Kempf reported the EMT class is now underway. There are 12 students enrolled.

An increase for Base-rate charges was approved by the board. This increase was proposed at the February meeting, but the federal government's limited "shutdowns" earlier in the year resulted in no increases given in Medicare's reimbursements on the base-rates until mid-February.

In February, the district approved raising the mileage charge for each "loaded mile" of the ambulances to $8 from the current $7.40. The increases went into effect March 1.

Kempf said the ambulance district will participate a Farm Safety Day in Morgan County. The Versailles Rural Fire Protection District and the Morgan County Extension are organizing the event, which will be held at the produce auction house in Excelsior.

Other business

  • Kempf reported an employee had requested withdrawal of some money from the person's retirement fund. The request would be denied, because it didn't meet the emergency guidelines.
  • The treasurer's report showed, for the month of January, an ending balance of funds on hand of $118,950.28.
  • Run statistics for February were: Tipton, 62 calls with 37 transports; California, 103 calls, 67 transports; Versailles, 166 calls, 121 transports. District-wide, there were 331 calls with 225 transports for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 78.7 percent.

The next regular meeting is set for April 11 at the Tipton district office.
