A new logo with three people-like figures popping out of an open book identifies the Moniteau County Library after board members this week approved a design by 54 Design Group.

In February, the library unveiled a new website and automation system.

Director Connie Walker said the user-friendly site and other changes are fitting. This is the first full year of operation as a county library.

"We actually never had a logo," Walker said. The board agreed the logo will make the library stand out.

The project of printing a window decal to face Oak Street is out to bid. Missouri Vocational Enterprises could potentially print other advertising products including new brochures.

"I think it represents what we are," library assistant Heidi Porter said. "We're a library, but also a gathering place."

In other action at the March 21 board meeting:

  • The board agreed to spend $484.55 for bike locks.
  • Current policies and procedures were amended to include U.S. Department of Justice ADA service animals.
