2 arrested for possession of meth at Eagle Stop

A March 14 complaint at Eagle Stop in California revealed two arrests for drug possession.

Jonathan I. McCarty, 37, of California, and Tamara Deroo, 20, of Versailles, were both charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia with both bonds set at $25,000.

After responding to a complaint at Eagle Stop, deputies with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, working with the California Police Department, asked for consent to search a vehicle occupied by McCarty and Deroo.

The request was denied, and K-9 Apollo was deployed to the scene where he gave a positive alert for drugs in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle, finding methamphetamine, scales and pills identified as a schedule four controlled substance.

McCarty and Deroo were taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail.
