Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri August 10-19

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for Wednesday through Friday. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected.

All Counties

Daylight Hours

Mowing of right of way is underway in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow moving equipment along the roadside.

Benton County in Southwest Region

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw - Widening highway to four lanes continues. The contractor continues working on grading, culverts and pipe work, and roadway construction. Minor traffic delays can be expected on existing Route 65. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Boone County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 70 between the Missouri River Bridge and Route BB - Concrete barriers are in place on the eastbound shoulder. Crews are working in the shoulder area to excavate and repair a portion of roadside fill to prevent the soil from sliding and damaging the pavement. Both eastbound lanes are open to traffic during the work. The ramp to Route BB is narrowed. The work continues through early September.

Route 63 from just north of Route 163 to Route H - Preparations for the construction of a new diamond interchange and southbound lanes. Motorists should expect possible periodic lane closures. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Monday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. near Route H.

Oakland Gravel Road bridge over Route 63 - Bridge maintenance will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 16. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 63 bridge over Route 763 - Bridge maintenance in the southbound lanes will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 18. One southbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 163 (Providence Road) and Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) in Columbia - Permit work to improve utilities continues through late September.

  • The right turn lane from northbound Route 163 to eastbound Route 740 is closed to traffic. Motorists can detour around the area by using Champions Drive to Mick Deaver Drive to Route 740.

  • Monk Drive is closed to traffic at Route 740. Motorists can use Maryland Avenue or South College Avenue to detour around the area.

  • A temporary entrance for employees only has been constructed for the Veteran's Hospital.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 between New Bloomfield and Fulton - Concrete replacement continues in the eastbound and westbound lanes through late August. One lane in each direction will be open through the work area.

Route F between Route 54 and Route J - Roadway resurfacing continues through Wednesday, Aug. 17. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route K between the Montgomery County line and Route D - Roadway resurfacing continues through Friday, Aug. 12. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden County

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54 Expressway.

  • Traffic on Laguna Beach Road is being routed onto the service road where they will access the new Case Road interchange.

  • The contractor is blasting and excavating rock at the Case Road interchange to place near the Grand Glaize Bridge.

  • Traffic is now on a portion of the new Route KK through the roundabout. The contractor will continue building the remaining portion of new Route KK and the interchange ramps. They will also continue to excavate material west of Route KK for the new Expressway. No traffic delays expected at this time.

  • Forrester Road traffic near the Lake of the Ozarks is using the new Case Road Interchange. The contractor plans to continue building the rest of the new service road and remaining entrances to the east. Minor traffic delays are expected during the tie-in portions of this work.

  • The contractor continues to pave between Route KK and Case Road interchange. This portion of the project is scheduled for completion late 2011.

Route D bridge over Spencer Creek, approximately three miles south of Route 54 - Bridge replacement is complete. The bridge opened to traffic on Tuesday, Aug. 2. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route W bridge over Mack's Creek in the town of Mack's Creek - Bridge replacement continues through mid-September. The bridge is closed to traffic during the work. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Camden and Miller Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 242/Horseshoe Bend Parkway between the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge and Route 54 - Grading and paving for a new four-lane highway.

  • The contractor is excavating and placing material on the western end of the project near the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge. * Minor traffic delays can be expected near Fish Haven Road for blasting operations. This project is scheduled for completion in late winter 2011.

Cole County

Daylight Hours

Routed 54 at the tri-level bridge in Jefferson City - Bridge maintenance in the westbound lanes continues through Wednesday, Aug. 10. One westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route D bridge over Route 50 - Bridge maintenance continues through Monday, Aug. 15. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 179 between Route C and Edgewood Drive - Grading, drainage, and bridge paving for a new interchange. Motorists should expect occasional lane closures. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.

Crawford County

Daylight Hours

Route Y between Route 8 and the Washington County line - Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Crawford and Phelps County

Daylight Hours

Route KK between Route ZZ and the city of Saint James - Chip sealing roadway surface to extend pavement life. The operation continues through Thursday, Aug. 11. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. Motorists should expect delays. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Dent County

Daylight Hours

Route FF between Route 68 and Route 72 - Roadway maintenance continues through Wednesday, Aug. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route U between Route 68 and the end of state maintenance - Roadway maintenance continues through Wednesday, Aug. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Gasconade and Osage Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 50 between Route 63 and the Franklin County line - Shoulder repair in various locations continues through Friday, Aug. 12. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Howard County

Daylight Hours

Route 240 between Main Street in Fayette and Route 124 - Bridge replacement over Bonne Femme Creek and Boone Femme Creek Overflow continue. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project will continue through early November.

Route EE between the Howard County line and Route W - Culvert pipe replacement will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 19. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 124 bridge over Hungry Mother Creek approximately one mile east of Route A South - Bridge maintenance will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route DD bridge over the Bonne Femme Creek approximately two miles south of County Road 423 - Bridge maintenance will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route P bridge over Salt Creek one mile east of Route DD - Bridge maintenance will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Z between Route 87 and Route J - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Aug. 19. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Laclede County

Daylight Hours

Route KK between Route 64 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, Aug. 26. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route MM between Interstate 44 to Route NN - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, Aug. 26. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Maries Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 42 between Route 54 in Miller County and Route 63 in Maries County - Roadway resurfacing continues through early September. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau County

Daylight Hours

Route NN between Route 5 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 15 through Friday, Aug. 19. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route T between Route 87 and Route C - Culvert pipe replacement will continues through Friday, Aug. 19. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau and Cole Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 179 between Route 87 in Jamestown and Merchants Drive in Jefferson City - Roadway resurfacing continues through mid-August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route D between Route KK and the Cooper County line - Roadway resurfacing will take place on Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the area.

Morgan County

Daylight Hours

Route Z between Route 5 and Route D - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, Aug. 12. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Osage County

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Sestak Slab low-water crossing on County Road 521, approximately three miles from Route T - Replacement of the low-water crossing as part of federal stream mitigation requirements continues through late August. The road will be closed to traffic during construction. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes around the work area.

Pettis County in Kansas City Region

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route W bridge over Flat Creek, 4.5 miles south of Route 50 - Bridge

replacement is near completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of Aug. 8. Motorists are being detoured around the work area on Routes 50, 135 and DD. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Pettis, Morgan and Moniteau Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 50 from east of Sedalia city limits to Tipton city limits - Roadway resurfacing continues in driving lanes and shoulders through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Phelps County

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route U bridge over Interstate 44 three miles east of St. James - Bridge deck repair continues through Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pulaski County

Daylight Hours

Route 133 between Route 7 and the Maries County line - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 17 south between Interstate 44 and the Laclede County line - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pulaski and Phelps County

Daylight Hours

Route MM between Route 28 in Pulaski County and the end of state maintenance in Phelps County - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Washington County

Daylight Hours

Route T between Route 185 and Route A - Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Thursday, Aug. 11. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route P between Route 8 and Route C - Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Thursday, Aug. 18. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route M Bridge over Mill Creek, one mile southwest of Irondale - Bridge replacement continues. The bridge is closed to traffic until early August.

Motorists should find alternate routes around the area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.
