Since a fire destroyed the main building of the Latham R-V School in the early morning hours of Dec. 15, 2010, just before Christmas break, the School Board, administrator, staff, teachers parents and others in the area have worked hard to keep the school going. Now another setback has the students once again using church facilities.

In the immediate aftermath of the devastating fire, school was cancelled for the approximately 60 K-8 students, while decisions were made.

Students resumed their studies on Jan. 3, 2011, in temporary facilities while cleanup was beginning and the task of bringing in portable classrooms was going on. The temporary school facilities were provided by Pilot Grove Baptist Church, two miles northeast of Latham.
