Labor Day weekend generally signals the beginning of the end of summer. In Moniteau County, Jamestown and High Point celebrate the three day weekend with special activities.
Jamestown will be hosting its annual Labor Day celebration this weekend at the Jamestown Lions Club Park.
Events begin with the co-ed softball tournament on Friday night, which runs throughout the weekend. The swimming pool and beer garden will be open Friday night and all weekend.
On Saturday a show featuring cars, motorcyles and antique tractors will be held. There will also be live music in the beer garden Saturday night.
On Sunday, FFA members will serve breakfast at the Community Building from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with a Community Worship Service at the Tent beginning at 10 a.m. On Sunday afternoon, there will be Horseshoe Tournaments and a Washer Tournament. There will be special church music.
Monday events include an all-day craft show, kids' games from 1 to 3 p.m., bingo, the "all you can eat barbecue" starting at 11 a.m. and performances of special church music at the Tent.
Monday is also the last day the pool will be open.

The 19th annual High Point Homecoming will also be held during the Labor Day weekend. Events start off Saturday, Sept. 3, with a two-mile walk/five k run at 7:30 a.m, baby Show at 10 a.m. and parade at 11 a.m.
The parade will begin at the High Point School and go through town.
A variety of activities will take place following the parade. An art show from noon to 3 p.m.; entertainment on stage from noon to 3 p.m. by Olde Tunes; a quilt show from noon to 3:30 p.m.; a car show from noon to 4 p.m.; and dinner from noon to 5:30 p.m.
Other events include an antique tractor display beginning at 1 p.m.; a kids bicycle rodeo also beginning at 1 p.m.; Albert Jobe Classics softball beginning about 2 p.m.; a white elephant auction to benefit the scholarship program beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Community worship services begin Sunday at 11 a.m. at the High Point School featuring Cowboy Church Pastor David Kenyon. The Nightlight Youth Softball tournament begins at 4 p.m.
