After defeating Boonville and Blair Oaks at the Eugene Basketball Invitational last week, California's varsity girls faced top-seeded Eugene in the championship game Saturday, where the #2 seeded Lady Pintos lost to host by just four points, 43-39, to finish the tourney in second place.
As California struggled to score in the first two quarters, Eugene jumped to a 16-4 lead at the half.
After three quarters, the Lady Eagles led 24-10. The fourth quarter, however, was a different story as California outscored Eugene 29-19. A valiant effort, just a little too late for the Lady Pintos, who ended up with the loss and second place.
"A 29-point fourth quarter can't overcome a night of off shooting," California Coach Bobby Sangster said.
