The Jamestown Eagles defeated Otterville 6-4 in first-round action at the Class 1 District 11 Baseball Tournament May 16 at New Franklin to advance to the semifinal round May 17, where they lost 10-5 to Pilot Grove to end the season 4-7.

"We had a good district tournament," California Coach Cory Walk said. "I'm proud of the way the boys played and ended the season on a positive note."

The opening game against fourth-seeded Otterville was at an even 3-3 after the first inning, then Otterville added one run in the fourth to lead 4-3. After a scoreless fifth and sixth inning, it was Jamestown's Chad Cook who turned the game around in the top of the seventh with a three-run homer to give Jamestown a 6-4 edge.

"Then we played good defense in the bottom of the seventh to get the outs, one-two-three, and the win," Walk said.
