The California High School varsity and JV softball teams concluded the 2011 season with the annual softball banquet Thursday at the high school commons, where the softball players and coaches gathered for a meal with family, friends and Lady Pinto softball fans to reflect on the season.

Assistant Coach Dwight Fitzwater opened the awards ceremony by recognizing each of the JV players, then spoke of the overall season. "We may not have won a lot of games, but our JV team was very competitive. I saw a great deal of improvement throughout the season. It was frustrating when we only got to play three innings. I'm a firm believer if you practice all week, you should be able to play a full game, but that wasn't our call. The girls played hard the entire season and that's all we can ask."
