Loretta June (Baker) Cassidy, 78, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Jean McDaniel of California, Pamela Sue Schatzer of Stillwater, Okla., and Melissa Cassidy of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Burial was in California City Cemetery. Officiating was Mr. Jack Bowlin.

Memorials are suggested to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018.

Watching the Iowa Caucus

Beverly Joyce (Reed) Gray, 55, of Versailles, formerly of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born on September 5, 1956 the daughter of Jack Reed who preceded her in death and her mother Velma Guy Henderson who survives.

She graduated from California High School in 1974. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. She was a seamstress in factory work and loved to read, crochet, do crafts, loved flowers and could do anything she put her mind to. She loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include, long time companion, Roland Brewer; two daughters, Carla Gray and Jeannie Wadley; two brothers, Jackie Reed and Jimmy Reed; two sisters, Linda Sanders and Rita Reed; four grandchildren, Jasmine, Ashley and Brittany McKenzie and Kelsey Wadley. She was preceded in death by one sister Norma Newkirk.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

HANSTINE

Doris Hanstine, 72, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at her residence.

She was born on November 12, 1938 in Jamestown, Mo., the daughter of Victor and Georgia (Hampton) Schull, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on April 2, 1960 in Clarksburg, Mo., to Ronald Hanstine, who survives of the home.

She was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School. She served in the United States Army, where she worked as a quartermaster clerk. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and enjoyed putting puzzles together, family genealogy and playing cards.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Hanstine of Endicott, N.Y., and Matthew Hanstine of Debarry, Fla.; two daughters, Rhonda Miller of Forrest City, Ark., and Rita Mae Drew of Sidney, N.Y.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and one sister, Anna M. Schull of California, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, James Hanstine; five brothers, James, John, Alex, Bill, and Arnold; and two sisters, Virginia Schull and Phyllis Linhardt.

Inurnment will be at a later date in California City Cemetery.

McINTIRE

Ramona Arlene McIntire, 82, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Carthage, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Newmark Care Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Ramona Arlene Snodgrass was born July 3, 1929 in Moniteau County, Mo., the daughter of Floyd Snodgrass and Eunice (Vaughan) Snodgrass.

She was a high school graduate, living in the California, Marshall, Moberly Missouri area for several years. She married Joy McIntire on February 2, 1954; he preceded her in death on December 30, 1996.

She was a member of Belton Baptist Church, Belton, Mo., and worked several years for Western Electric, Lees Summit, Mo. She was noted for her singing ability in the Marshall and Moberly Baptist churches. She came to Joplin in August, 1995 returning to Kansas City in 2003.

Survivors include a brother, Rex (Evelyn) Snodgrass, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; Ruthann, Ryan and Janice Birdsong; four great-grandchildren, Aaron, DaCody, Brylee and Jaylyn Birdsong; former daughter-in-law, Delta (Birdsong) Lindsay; a niece, Laurie Snodgrass and a nephew, Mike Snodgrass, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joy, and a son, Kenneth Birdsong.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel, Carthage. Rev. Bob Morgan, Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage, officiated. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.

Joshua Robert Miller, 17, of Latham, Mo., passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 near Warsaw, Mo.

He was born on January 4, 1994 in Aurora, Colo., the son of Jason and Jennifer (Burns) Miller, both of whom survive of the home.

He worked for Hoback Fence. Joshua loved the Lord, and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Jefferson City, where he was baptized. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, four wheelers, taking care of his farm animals, and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Ashley Jane Miller and Kylie Anne Miller, both of the home; maternal grandmother Peggy Martz of Centennial, Colo.; and great-aunt Kathy Burns of California, Mo.,, and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Robert Burns; and paternal grandmother Linda McGoyne.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo. Officiating was Pastor Randy Dignan.

Mr. James F. "Fred" Parish, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at St. Marys Health Center.

Fred was born April 20, 1930 in Big Piney, Mo., the son of Charles E. and Lulia I. Pritchard Parish. He was married on May 26, 1962 in California, Mo., to Ida Mae Lairmore, who preceded him in death in March, 2003.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Fred served in the United States Army.

Fred was employed with Missouri Power and Light and later Union Electric as a natural gas inspector for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 257.

Fred loved walking all over town, loved animals, and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include: his daughter, Linda Cottingham of Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers, Buel Parish and his wife Jacque of Troy, Mo. and Ralph Parish and his wife Addie of California, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lulia Parish; his wife, Ida Mae; four brothers, Charles E. Parish, Jr., Bernal Parish, Paul DeWayne Parish, and Hugh Denzel Parish; and two sisters, Lulia Adina "Donna" Artelt and Christine Donna Belt.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel in Jefferson City, Mo.. with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors were held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter Building Fund.
