After the Senior Bowling League went on break, some still wanted to bowl during the summer. So they asked California Lanes Owner Rob Rimel if they could continue bowling three games on Wednesday afternoons at the same $5 rate for three games. Rimel said that would not be a problem at all and so seniors from the California area have been getting together to bowl on Wednesdays and beat the heat in a nice air conditioned building.

"This past year we had eight teams in the league," bowler Norma Jean Martin said. "When the season ended in May we asked Rimel if he could open the bowling alley for us in the summer and he said he would be happy to do so. It has been great. I just came back after having health issues in April and May and this was the first time I was able to bowl again. We would like to see some more come out and possibly even get some new people out here. We will be continuing to bowl into August and our new season will start Sept. 5."
