Adult Agriculture Education meeting schedule

Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. in the agriculture greenhouse classroom located behind the high school.

 Nov. 1 - BBQ followed by Dr. Borgmeyer and Dr. Oerly of California Vet. Clinic

To kick off the fall meetings a barbecue meal will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:30. Dr. Borgmeyer and Dr. Oerly will discuss problems with breeding and feeding related to the severe drought we have experienced. They will also answer any health related questions you may have.

Nov.8 - USDA Wildlife Services

Every day, farmers, airports, residents and agencies call on Wildlife Services (WS) in Missouri for help in protecting agriculture, human health and safety, natural resources, and property from damage or threats posed by wildlife. WS' professional wildlife biologists respond with effective, selective, and humane strategies to resolve wildlife conflicts.

Nov. 15 - MO National Guard Agribusiness Development Team (Afghanistan)

Sgt. Larry Godsey, MS agricultural economics 1996, a member of the Agribusiness Development Team (ADT), will be talking about their work in Afghanistan. The effort is being led by Missouri National Guard members, many of whom are graduates of the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.

Nov. 29 - Rural Crimes Investigative Unit & Moniteau County Sheriff Jay Gump

RCIU focuses solely on the investigation of crime unique to the agricultural industry and farming communities within the state of Missouri. Formed in the fall of 2009 with the award of a $3.4 million grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (U.S. Department of Justice), RCIU was designed after successful undercover efforts that served to address increasing incidents of specific agriculture-related crimes.

Dec. 6 - Year End Farm Tax Planning

Bobby Medlin, CPA, will explain new tax laws that relate to farmers and landowners, and information that will affect decisions that need to be made before the end of the year.

Dec. 13 - To be announced

Jan. 3 - Ron Plain, Ag. Economist University of Missouri and Chili Supper

Ron Plain will give his perspective on the economy and his prediction of the commodity markets for the coming year. Meal will begin at 6:30 p.m. with meeting following at 7:30.
