State Young Farmers/Young Farm Wives tour planned

The 2013 State Young Farmers/Young Farm Wives tour, "Re-exploring Tomorrow's Agriculture Today!" is based out of Nodaway County, organized by the Nodaway County Agri-Leaders and Northwest Missouri State University.

The event is July 28-30, starting with check-in on Sunday in Maryville and includes stops at local farms and businesses in Northwest Missouri. The tour includes a BBQ Cook-Off, display by the Heart-of-America Tractor Club and Keynote Speaker, Andrew McCrea.

Tentative tour stops for Monday include: Byergo Angus Farms, Barmann Sod Farms, Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing, Silver Spur Salers, Stiens Land and Livestock, Honan Farms, Hurst Greenery, and Houston Polytank. The Monday tentative alternative tour stops include Conception Abbey, Benedictine Convent, and local homes tours.

On Tuesday, tour stops will include various components of the Northwest Missouri State University including a walking tour of campus and the Missouri State Aboretum, R.T. Wright University Farm, use of alternative energy, Community Sensory Garden, and Miscanthus & Cover Crop Plots, to name a few.

The tour steering committee invites young farmers and wives to "spend three fun packed days of diversified agriculture in Northwest Missouri."
