Paws Walk May 4

The Moniteau County Hope Warriors Relay for Life team will host the second annual PAWS For A Cure Walk 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, May 4, at Proctor Park.

The event is again being sponsored by PetSmart, with donations from many local businesses. PAWS For A Cure is a non-competitive walk event for dogs and their owners who are interested in raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.

The Hope Warriors team has expanded this year's event by adding exiting new activities and presentations to the schedule, including an agility course for dogs, and a K9 demonstration by Moniteau County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Ward.

Teresa Porter, California, will also be on location with the latest in pooch fashion, as well as doggie diapers and collar slides. Kristina Ernst will be doing dog nail trimming.

New contests at the annual event include: Best Kisser, Best Tail-Wagger, and the Paws King and Queen Contest.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend. All dogs must be well-behaved and on a leash at all times, and children and pets must be accompanied by at least one adult walker.

Because Proctor Park is within city limits, pit bull dogs are not allowed as the City Ordinance prohibits pit bulls within city limits.

Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m., with the first event scheduled to start at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $10 per dog, with each pooch receiving a gift bag. It's sure to be a tail-wagging good time for a great cause.
