On Dec. 9, Cub Scouts and families gathered at the First Christian Church to celebrate the Christmas season and present monthly achievement awards. The celebration included presents for the scouts, a delicious potluck supper, bags of candy, fun games and enough awards to fill Santa's workshop!
The whole group enjoyed the Marshmallow Game and the worthy participants who gave it their all! In the end Matt Abernathy, father of Webelos 1 Scout Matthew Abernathy, not only won for his son's Den but broke the previous record held in this game. Coming in a very close second was Terance Imes, father of Tiger Scout Bryce Walker, and rounding out the top five were Webelos 2 Scout William Pickering, Wolf Scout Walker Friedmeyer, and Bear Scout D.J. Schneider.
In the month leading up to the party, scouts were very busy. They earned a variety of awards including compass badges; compass points; pins for archery, baseball, bb gun, soccer, communicating, athlete, family member cooperation, and traveler; belt loops for family travel, gymnastics, reading, citizen and ultimate loop; and yellow beads for Progress Toward Ranks. Hard-working Scouts earning awards were William Pickering, Matthew Kilmer, Daniel Johnson, Kyle Freiner, Ernest Blair, Dennin White, Drew Graff, Matthew Abernathy, Diego Vasquez, D.J. Schneider, Braydon Knipp, Cameron Klempke, Ethan Fisher, and Peter Dampf.
Bobcat badges were also earned by Wolf Cub Scout Zachary Klempke and Bear Cub Scouts Cameron Klempke and Ethan Fisher. As this is an important milestone on the road to advancement, proud parents assisted in pinning the award to the uniform of their son.
