During the month of November, patrons may return overdue books without the penalty of a fine. This is a great opportunity to return those books and other library materials that are long overdue and bring your library account up-to-date. You may return your items to the library or to the drop box in front of the library on Oak Street.
Moniteau County Library at Wood Place also has a special deal for patrons who currently have overdue fines on their account. Each fine will be waived for a canned food donation. For example, if you have three fines, they will be erased for three cans of food. To obtain credit for your fine(s), you must come into the library with your donation. All non-perishable food items collected will be given to our local food pantry to help those in need.
The only exception to this amnesty program is a lost item charge. If you have lost an item, you are still expected to pay for it. However, the library will accept partial payments until the total amount is reached. You do not have to pay the total amount at one time.
The goal of the library amnesty program is to get back needed materials and to help patrons clear their account. If you have questions concerning this amnesty program, please call Library at 573-796-2642 during regular library hours Monday-Wednesday-Friday: 10-5; Tuesday-Thursday: 10-8; Saturday: 9-1, or check the library's website.
