The Pintos traveled to Cole Camp for a make-up game Monday, April 21, where the varsity captured a 17-2 win in five innings.

California led 3-0 after two innings, then added eight runs in the third to lead 11-2. The Pintos scored five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, while the Bluebirds managed just one final run in the seventh to fall 17-2 to the Pintos.

"We run-ruled Cole Camp," California Coach Jason Gatlin said. "This was a great game."

Zach Holliday recorded the win with six strikeouts.

The Pintos had 17 hits while Cole Camp had two.

Bret Volmert led California hits with two including a home run, and had four RBI. Randy Allee and Alex Davis each contributed two hits and four RBI each. Jaden Barr had three hits and J.T. Trachsel had two.

California's JV also defeated Cole Camp, 7-1.

Eli Freeman and Grant Hofstetter recorded the win with a combined eight strikeouts.

Alex Dalbey led California's JV bats with one hit and two RBI. Hunter Heimericks contributed two hits, and Hunter Hess had one hit and one RBI.

California hosted Eldon Tuesday, April 22, where the varsity suffered an 8-5 loss to the Mustangs.

After a scoreless first inning for both teams, Eldon scored seven runs in the second inning to gain a 7-0 edge. The Pintos got into the scoring action in the second inning as well when Allee's single drove Austin Gump home, then Holliday ripped a triple that drove Allee home and California trailed 7-2.

After three empty innings for both teams, the Pintos added one run in the sixth inning when Zach Holliday got on base with a single and ultimately stole home. California trailed 7-3 going into the seventh inning.

The Mustangs scored one run in the final frame to lead 8-3. The Pintos started off the seventh inning with a single by Trachsel, then Gump got on base with a walk. Holliday connected with a pitch for a single that drove Trachsel and Gump home, and California trailed 8-5, and ultimately took the loss.

"We had one bad inning," Gatlin said. "After that, we just couldn't get back over the hump."

Skylar Yakich recorded the win for Eldon (8-8) with five strikeouts.

Burke Brant recorded the loss with seven strikeouts.

The Mustangs had 10 hits, while the Pintos had seven.

Holliday led California hits with a triple, two single and three RBi. Allee contributed a single and one RBI, while Trachsel, Brant and Barr each had a single.

Dylan Wood led Eldon hits with three and three RBI. Yakich contributed two hits.

California's JV defeated Eldon 5-4.

Eli Freeman recorded the Pintos' JV win with six strikeouts.

California hosted Versailles Friday, where the Pintos took out the Tigers 13-3.

Versailles started off the night with a 1-0 lead after the first inning, however, the Pintos answered with one run in the third inning and two in the fourth to lead 3-1. The Tigers scored two runs in the fifth inning, however, California scored six runs to lead 9-3, then added four runs in the sixth inning to secure a 13-3 victory.

Barr started off on the mound for California, pitching 4.2 innings and recording two strikeouts. Landon Mouse pitched the final 1.1 innings to pick up the win. Mouse recorded two strikeouts.

Brant led California bats with three hits and three RBI. Volmert had one hit and three RBI, and Barr contributed two hits. Gump had two RBI.

California's JV also defeated Versailles, 12-4.

Brayden Ash pitched 2.1 innings for California, while Grant Hofstetter pitched 1.1 inning and recorded three strikeouts, and Nick Albright pitched one inning and also recorded three strikeouts.

The Pintos had 11 hits to the Tigers' six. Jackson Trachsel led California hits with two and three RBI. Freeman also had two hits. Hofstetter contributed one hit and Zeke Holliday had one RBI.

The Pintos traveled to Warsaw Monday night, where they lost a close contest to the Wildcats, 2-1.

After an even 1-1 first inning, the Pintos were unable to score, while the Wildcats managed one run in the third inning and held on for the win, 2-1.

Zach Holliday recorded the loss with four strikeouts.

California's JV defeated Warsaw 12-3.

The Pintos (9-5) will travel to Harrisburg Thursday. The varsity game will begin at 5 p.m.
