Excitement filled the air at High Point R-III school as classes began Thursday, Aug. 14, with Stan Elliott at the helm as administrator. Elliott welcomed students as they arrived with a huge smile. High Point has an enrollment of 81 students for the 2014-15 school year.
Many parents and grandparents accompanied students for the first day, however, some arrived by buses driven by Phil Wyrick and Kerry Eidson. Parents were eagerly welcomed with a smile from secretary Susan Little who assisted them.
When breakfast was ready to be served the students went to the cafeteria where cook Amanda Barbour had prepared a wonderful first day of school breakfast to include pancakes, syrup, oranges and milk. Students enjoyed breakfast while visiting with classmates.
After breakfast the students were dismissed by grades to begin the 2014-2015 year.
