MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. - The Southern Boone Lady Eagles advanced to state in seven of their nine sectional events en route to a sectional championship Saturday.
Southern Boone scored 78 points and won four events, with Hannah Crow getting first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay. Cassey Poole also took first in the 800-meter run.
The California girls finished 12th with 33 points, advancing Audrey Pickering and Cameron Meyer to state for the Lady Pintos in both the shot put and discus.
The California boys tied for fifth place in the team standings with 52 points. The Southern Boone Eagles finished seventh with 38.
Gunner Baquet won the long jump for the Pintos' lone sectional win, while also advancing to state in the triple jump.
Devon Perry will head to state in two events and had the Eagles' top finish of the day, taking second in the 100-meter dash.
