For the California Pintos football team, the regular season ended with a tough 65-7 loss to the Blair Oaks Falcons.

The game started off on a sour note for the Pintos, as Blair Oaks scored on a 65-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game to take a 6-o lead. Blair Oaks scored again with 9:02 to play in the first quarter to make it 13-0. The Falcons pulled away, as they scored two more times to end the first quarter with a 27-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Falcons only added more to their lead, as they scored three more touchdowns to make it a 48-0 lead at halftime.

The one bright spot for the Pintos came at the start of the second half; Alex Meisenheimer returned a kick off 83-yards for a touchdown to make it 48-7 at 11:44 in third quarter to start off the second half.

It was the second straight week Meisenheimer had a special team touchdown.

Head Coach Mikel Gragg said their work on special teams is now clicking for the Pintos.

"We work on that," Gragg said. "It is finally starting to click with them, this late in the season, with exactly the angles they need to take."

Blair Oaks had been ranked #2 in the state in Class 2 at the time. So, playing against that caliber, Gragg said that the Pintos competed the whole game.

"We played a lot of young guys and we made them compete against the #2 team in the state," Gragg said. "Our kids competed and played hard and fought the whole way through."

Blair Oaks finished the game with 403 total yards, while California had only 49 total yards. The Falcons had 162 rushing yards and 241 passing yards. California had six rushing yards and 43 passing yards.

The Pintos next game will be in the first round of Class 2 District 5 Tournament Oct. 26 at Blair Oaks.

Blair Oaks is now the No. 1 ranked team in Class 2.
