Rafters will start season tonight

SHREVEPORT, La.-The Shreveport Rafters Football Club will begin its inaugural soccer season at 7 p.m. today, taking on the Fort Worth Vaqueros at Graf Orthodontics Field in Lee Hedges Stadium, 6115 E. Kings Highway, Shreveport.

The Rafters are an expansion team in the National Premier Soccer League. The team will compete in the south region's South Central Conference. Teams from Texas include San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, The Colony, and Houston. Also competing are Wichita, Kan., Joplin, Mo., and Tulsa, Okla.

The NPSL is considered a third tier of minor league soccer in the United States.

The club was founded by brothers Will Broyles and Jim Broyles of Shreveport in October 2015.

Children ages two and under will receive free admission. Tickets prices for children 3-12 will be $5 and ticket prices for adults are $10.
