California boys golf earns seventh place at state

The California Pintos boys golf team finished in seventh place at the Class 2 state championship May 13-14 at Springfield.

The team had a score of 372 on day one and a score of 363 on day two for a total score of 735.

St. Pius X (Kansas City) High School finished in first place with a score of 678, Whitfield High School was in second place with a score of 686 and Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School finished in third place with a score of 697.

Jordon Geiser finished tied for 12th place overall with a score of 167, while Jordan Bondurant finished in 50th place with a score of 185. Christopher Cassil finished tied for 60th place with a score of 190; Enoch Dunnaway finished tied for 64th place with a score of 193; and Kyle Kirksey finished tied for 77th place with a score of 203.

This was the third year in a row that the team made it to state.

"I think it shows that we have a strong program with hard working boys to keep us on the winning side of things," head coach Doug Miller said.
