Jean Baker

Jean Baker, 83, of California, MO passed away on Friday, February 8,2013 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. She was born on January 27, 1930 in Cooper County, the daughter of Louis R. and Martha V. (Miller) York, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on July 3, 1966 at Oakland Baptist Church, to Robert Baker, who survives of the home. Jean graduated Clarksburg High School, then graduated from Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg. She taught two years at Cross Lane School. She worked in Kansas City, MO for Kansas City Life Insurance Company and also worked at Co Mo Electric Cooperative in Tipton. Jean was employed by Missouri Retailers Association from which she took her retirement. Jean enjoyed going to church and loved her church family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, John Alan Baker, of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren, Brittany and Chandler Baker; one great grandchild Kaden Baker; one brother, Kelly York and wife Stella of Chillicothe, MO; and two sisters, Nellie Hodges and Juanita Elliott of Clarksburg and sister-in law Marjorie York of Willow Street, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Roy, Leonard, Raymond, Floyd and Martin York and 5 sisters, Nancy Albert, Mary Rex, Lena Hall, Viola Donley and Faye in infancy.
