Marvelene Marie Garber, age 87, of Tipton, passed away in her home on Thursday, July 18, 2013. She was born on September 3, 1925, in rural California, Missouri, the daughter of William and Fannie (Bucher) Senior. On August 6, 1946, in Paola, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Dennis T. Garber, who survives at the home. Marvelene graduated in 1944, from Latham High School as valedictorian of her class. She attended Central Missouri State on a scholarship. Marvelene was a lifelong homemaker. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. She enjoyed music and played the piano at church for approximately 60 years. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, cooking, reading and the computer. She loved spending quality time with family and friends. In addition to her husband, Dennis, she is survived by a son, Ronald Garber and wife Diane of Chillicothe, Missouri; three daughters, Denna Angle and husband Steve of Warrensburg, Missouri and Carol Franken and husband Fred and Lisa Knipp and husband Bradley both of Tipton, Missouri; one brother, Donald Senior and wife Donna of Harrisonville, Missouri; one sister, Malverna Buchheim of Tipton, Missouri; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 21st, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Brother David Stephenson and Brother Dusty Klein officiating. Graveside services and interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Tipton First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
