Wilma "Woody" Wewerka-Harris, 77, of California, Missouri, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born May 30, 1936, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late William and Goldie Ivy (Branson) Wewerka. She was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. Wilma owned and operated Woody's Daycare in Jefferson City for twenty-two years. She was previously employed with Scholastic Inc. and the Cole County Courthouse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, River City Redhatters, and the American Legion. Wilma was a Cub Scout Mother at East School and was also President of Pre-School at East School. She loved children and always loved to watch her grandkids' ball games. Wilma is survived by a daughter: Dayla Lynn Volkart (husband Scott) of California, MO; two grandchildren: Erica Paige Volkart and Connor Payne Volkart of California, MO; two sisters: Betty Rose Krause of Lawrence, KS; Barbara Ann Wewerka of Jefferson City, MO; one brother: Joe Wewerka of Raleigh, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Goldie Wewerka; one son: Curtis Dale Payne on February 24, 2004; one sister: Ruby Tune; and two brothers: Eugene Orr and Bill Wewerka. Memorial Services were held on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Interment was held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
