Lester C. Hill, Jr., 70, of Tipton, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born September 12, 1942, in Charleston, WV, to Lester C. Hill, Sr. and Helen Wamsley. He married Helen M. Battles on June 20, 1964 in Tipton, MO, who survives of the home. Mr. Hill was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post #304, president of the Tipton Nutrition Center, and had numerous positions at the Farmers Sportsman Club. He worked for many years as a salesman for the John Morrell Meat Company in St. Louis. He loved to hunt, fish and watch sports on TV. He was an avid bowler and loved his grandchildren, family and friends. Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons-Mark (Nina) Hill of Hamilton, MO; Brian (Emilie) Hill of California, MO; one daughter-Stephanie (Jared) Oldham of Syracuse, MO; six grandchildren-Destiny, Hannah, and Louren Hill; Garrad, Tucker, Konner Oldham; two sisters-Joyce Price of Ona, WV and Normia (Barry) Holstein of Hernshaw, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mom, brother, and brother-in-law. Funeral services were held Friday, May 3, 2013 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton with Father Fred Elskamp officiating. Burial was in the St. Andrew's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tipton Nutrition Center.
