William 'Billy' Ellis Rex, 70, of California, Missouri passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. In Cooper County Billy was born at home on November 13, 1942 the son of George and Lora (Martin) Rex. Billy was a life-long farmer and loved to hunt. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, sexton of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and served as a past board member of the Prairie Home Co-op. On March 7, 1964 he was married to Joyce A. Kiesling. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Riding his motorcycle and enjoyed a good chuckle were always enjoyable to Billy. Survivors of Billy include his wife Joyce A. Rex of the home; children Susan Brandes (Russell), Michael W. Rex (Tammy), Michele "Shelly" Rex, and Kimberly Hass (Kenneth); grandchildren Adam, Lyndsey, Jonathan, Bryanna, Sarah, Ashley, Evan Alexander, Gabriella and Madisyn; brothers George F. Rex, Dwayne Rex and Lynn Ray Rex; in addition to several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Roy Dale Rex and sister Sara LaVern Taylor. Funeral services were in the Windmill Ridge Funeral Chapel at on Friday, September 20, 2013 with Rev. Robert Kimmis officiating. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
