Walter W Shirk

Walter W. Shirk, 61, of California, Mo., went peacefully to his heavenly home surrounded by his family and pastors on Tuesday, March 01, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born on March 04, 1954, in Ephrata, Pa., to Menno and Barbara (Wanner) Shirk. On August 2, 1974, in Reading, PA., Walter was married to Debra (Sweigart). He worked at Ephrata Shoe Co. & Fleet-Air Corp. of Ephrata, PA. He enjoyed working with wood refinishing furniture, playing guitar and singing and spending time with his family. Walter is survived by: his wife, Debra of California, Mo.; a daughter Debbie (David) Rissler of Linn, Mo.; three grandchildren, Randy, Rodney and Bethany Rissler of Linn, Mo.; three brothers, Tony, Amos and Irvin (Theresa) Shirk all of Pa.; three sisters Alta and Ella Shirk, and Marie (Dean) Miller all of Pa.; 18 nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Shirk. The family received friends at Windmill Ridge Funeral Home on Friday, March 04, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 05, 2016, at Windmill Ridge Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ernie Jennings officiating. Interment was at California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Life Church Fellowship, 403 North Owen Street, California, Mo. 65018.
