Ward Geier, 91, of California, Mo., passed away at his residence on Monday, October 31, 2016. He was born on October 2, 1925, in Moniteau County, Mo., the son of William Geier and Hattie Gray, both of whom preceded him in death. Ward was married on April 28, 1949, to Doreen (Dick) Geier, at Prairie Home, Mo., who survives at the home. He graduated high school from Jamestown, Mo. Ward worked for the Peoples Bank of Jamestown for almost 30 years where he served as President for many of those years. He served his country in the United States Army at the age of 19; went through many battles, served as an ammo bearer and messenger in France, Germany and Austria with heavy weapons as a member of the Company D, 409th Regiment. Ward was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, American Theatre Medal, the European Theatre Medal; the Victory and Occupational Medals. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in California, Mo., where he was a Deacon and was very active in the church for many years. Ward was a 50 year member of the California Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He enjoyed traveling and being with his family. Survivors include: one son, Norris Geier and wife Christi of Ozark, Mo.; one daughter, Joyce Ragsdale and husband Gary of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Masonic service and VFW honors. Funeral service was held on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in California, Mo. Officiated by Brother Greg Morrow. Burial was with full military honors at the California City Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the First Baptist Church of California, Mo., c/o the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
